The Q: What’s Your Favorite Movie or Book that Stars a Rescue Pet?
I truly believe that stories can change lives, and there are a ton more stories out there that I’ve never heard of, which is why I put this question out there. I’ve added a bunch of these to my list and I’m excited to dig in.
Below, I’ve listed all of your submissions (thanks guys! what would I do without you… I wouldn’t have a show that’s what!) and if you’re coming upon this page and you have a recommendation, please leave us a comment!

Here is the article Lara send me along with her suggestion on FB: Rescue Dogs Movie Enlists 20 Animal Rescues for Adoption Events on Opening Weekend
Also make sure you get in touch with them on Twitter (@rescuedogsmovie), at the time of this posting they are calling out to all rescues to participate!
Woodstock from Legacy Boxer Rescue played a role in this film! Unfortunately he passed away after losing his battle with Lymphoma, but his spirit will now be forever preserved.
Hachi: A Dog’s Tale AKA Hachiko: A Dog’s Story
Based on a true story about a man who finds a stray.
A classic movie in my mind! Although it’s not about a rescue dog, one of the 22 dogs who played Marley was a rescue dog named Rudy who was saved from euthanasia just in the nick of time! Read all about Rudy in this article I found in the Tampa Bay Times: Local Rescue Dog Plays Part in Marley & Me.
Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention in the podcast that Marley & Me actually started out as a book by John Grogan.
The Disney classic animated film.
