Joseph Knipp has a history of befriending disabled dogs, so it was natural for him to fall for pets with special needs. Intrigued by his ability to bond with dogs that most people wouldn’t look twice at, I asked Joe to share the story of how his happy family came to be.
I met Robert when he was still up for adoption at Pets Alive. Joe would visit the sanctuary and run with him everyday and it really touched my soul to know that there was someone who cared for Robert, wheels and all, the way Joe did. Of course, everyone at Pets Alive loved Robert. When he was off the wheels he was the office dog and everyone knew his story, and everyone wanted Joe to adopt him.
Although I didn’t officially meet Sammy (Josh at that time) while I volunteered at Pets Alive, I did know of him, and I was fascinated to find out the details of how Joe and Sammy formed a forever friendship.
